THE BEST AND THE WORST: HIGH SCHOOL MEMORIES

At aged 16 and now nearing the end of my first year of sixth form, it suddenly dawned on me that in just over a year I will be leaving high school never to see its face again. These, as adults often say, are meant to be the best days of your life, the times that you will never forget. Yet in just over a year it will all be over. For good. And you know what.... I have never been happier.

You see, high school has been a total learning experience. I have never cried more tears or laughed so much in any other place. But you couldn't pay me a million pounds to do again. Those of you who are no longer in high school will know exactly what I mean. I have discovered the most important and difficult life lessons here, I could tell you just about anything about the endless student cliques and the criteria to being the most popular girl in school.

In this post I will begin to tell you a few of the reasons why I love (and love to hate) high school. I am sure some of you will be able to relate and I you are all very, very welcome to share your high school memories in the comments below!

The Best
friendships
There is nothing better than having that group of friends you know that regardless of what you do, always, always have your back. Just picture that moment that the teacher asks you to get in to groups and you and your friends exchange that 'all knowing' look. I personally can say that high school would not be the same without my gals and guys that make it worth it.

No worries
For most of high school, before the work kicked in, I practically lived in paradise. Everything was so care free , I was oblivious and blinded towards the life of workload and labour I was heading for. I am honestly say that I took advantage of every minute and second of these years. You might as well have place a hammock in my classroom and put my name on it. I was that relaxed.

Chance to experiment and self identity
In high school we really do get the chance to build our personalities. I myself have experimented with several looks: the good, the bad and the ugly. I think these are the years, although they are really confusing, become the foundations of the people that we will eventually become.

The Worst
The awkward phase and the non-existent 'glo-up'
My goodness. If anyone has experienced the awkwardness that comes with being in high school, that person is me. Not only did I have a really awkward personality, but I also looked it. Whilst I watched my female counterparts blossom into Greek goddesses, I remained the duckling. I can proudly admit that I look no different to how I looked 10 years ago.

The populars and the cliques
Oh dear, oh dear. Don't the populars suck? The dominate the common room, claiming the best of the schools resources as their own as the rest of us ' not so popular' girls and boys are left to fight over what remains. This makes me think back to the chain of sweet 16 parties everyone who was anyone  had last year. Unfortunately I didn't make the final cut to any of these oh-so-exclusive parties.

The bullies
I have never really been bullied myself, but I can definitely speak from experience and say that so many people in high school do their best to put you down. Those who are so insecure in themselves will pick out the tiniest thing about you and try to make you dislike yourself. It's sad but true.

The teachers
Don't get me wrong, some teachers are angels , but others... not so much. I cannot stand teachers with their favourites. Selecting the smartest few and ensuring their success. Why do that when you are here to make sure tat ALL your students are successful?

And there we have it , a very brief outline of what school has done to me! I would love to hear your thoughts and stories below!
Thanks for reading!

  3. I have just 6 weeks of high school left and all I can think is "It can't be over, not yet!!" For me, there were awkward moments, the good ones and the epic ones and I will try the best I can to make the greatest ones for the rest of my time here! I will miss it, big time :3
